What's in the backpack?

Another year, another blog.
I've been toying with the idea of exploring another form of content creation and have decided that it is time to put pen to paper.
Or fingers to keyboard, as it were.
The ironic thing about this is that I don't really subscribe to the idea of resolutions, but I'm doing this at the beginning of the year (kind of). I wonder if that means I do believe in resolutions more than I'm willing to admit. The hype can't be that bad, can it?
As I'm writing this, there are currently 572 million blogs out there. Around 7 million blogs are posted a day. This blog will fall into that statistic. I'm hoping that I'm able to turn it into something meaningful for some people. It's not going to be easy but hey, at least I'm putting myself out there - right?
So what IS in the backpack?
Well, as an expatriate, I'm hoping to draw parallels between our experiences and the backpacks we carry. No two backpacks have exactly the same content. Just as no two stories are exactly the same.
But what do we do before we travel? We search the internet for suggestions. We ask the question: what should be in my backpack before I make this journey?
This blog will represent my own backpack. Based on my own interests and experiences. I'm hoping that some people open up my backpack and are interested in the content they see. There will be no specific genre to the posts. Instead, I will use what little writing skills I have to articulate the contents of my backpack.
The interesting thing about backpacks is that they are limited. When using a backpack, we need to ensure that we utilize our space wisely.
Keep the essentials, get rid of the inessentials.
But always remember to carry something sentimental - it's not all about practicality.
I hope that what you find in my backpack adds some value to what you carry in yours.
